School of Medicine, University of Turin

The University of Turin has breathed new life into one of the city’s historic sites: the former headquarters of the daily newspaper La Stampa in Via Marenco, now transformed into the Piedmontese university’s modern School of Medicine.

The conversion project has created over 15,000 square metres of state-of-the-art space and laboratories. The structure has been completely renovated and features huge lecture halls, enormous windows and spaces dedicated to teaching and research activities.

With a total capacity of around 3,200 students, the new headquarters is an educational centre of excellence, combining industrial history with the training needs of the future.

In a university complex designed to accommodate thousands of people every day, the choice of plant systems must guarantee maximum durability, hygiene and water performance. This is why Kariba concealed cisterns were chosen.
